World War One Brass Trench Art Scimitar Shaped Letter Opener

A nice piece of World War One trench art made from brass with a bullet casing incorporated as the handle to form a scimitar sword shape – most likely to act as a letter opener. These are often described as being French in origin, but as with all items of this type, it can be difficult to verify their exact place of manufacture. The letter opener measures approximately 18cm by 4.5 cm (7 in by 1¾ in).
